The night before the climb, they drank tea and hadsupper. They discussed what to take with them to the top. They decided to leave their sleeping bags and tents behind because theequipment was too heavy. Early in the morning they hadbreakfast and got dressed. Then they started to go up themountain. It was extremely difficult. The snow was very deep.After a long, hard fight they reached the top together. They laughed, shouted and took some photographs. Then the sun disappeared and the two men realised they were on the top ofEverest and it was almost night. Their camp was too far toreach. They went a little way down the mountain, but there was no moon and it was too dangerous. They had to spend thenight on the mountain, at about 10,000 metres, with no tent, sleepingbags or food. They believed it was possible. They dug ahole in the snow, and buried themselves. They did not sleep.It was -30 °C. When the light came at last they beganclimbing down, and soon they got to their camp. Everybody washappy.
